Shun cutlery is some of the most stunning in the world. Shun knives are are used by chefs and sushi masters everywhere. Many of their knives feature the Damascus style of 33 layers of steel, making it look as impressive as it is sharp. They use a great recipe of steel, often VG-10 steel, known for its extreme hardness and ability to retain a sharp edge.
Shun knives, known for their extraordinary quality, are surprisingly found priced in the low, medium, and high ranges. They do take the notable prize, however, of having the most expensive chef knife in my May 2010 price survey of 71 product lines! To their credit, they succeed where Henckels is having trouble, in that of producing high quality and favorably reviewed cutlery lines that are inexpensive. Kudos to Shun!
When it comes to customer reviews, Shun cutlery has earned stellar reviews in 9 of the 11 product lines covered here, garnering my
award!
If you are looking for high quality Japanese style knives, Shun needs to be on your short-list.
